≪栃（トチノキ）≫

トチノキは、東北地方を中心に分布している落葉樹です。成長すると、幹の径は1メートルを超え、高さも約25メートルに達します。その名前からも想像が付くとおり、栃木県の県木に指定されています。

トチノキは、ゴールデンイエローともいうべき心材の美しさが際立っています。「リップルマーク」と呼ばれる特徴的な木目が出ることで知られ、この特徴を持つ木は、家具などの材料としてたいへん重宝されます。また、木目の白い栃は、白栃と呼ばれ、やはり重宝されます。食器の材料としても知られています。

明るい色の色味のトチは、ウォールナットについでお問合せの多い樹種となっております。
